Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not sure which option - Introductory or Elite - is right for me?

It’s natural to be unsure which option is best for you. At thriveMD, we help you make the best decision for your health, starting with your initial Provider Intake Appointment. In this one-hour appointment, you’ll discuss your current health situation and goals with one of our providers and then determine the best fit for you: the Introductory Longevity Assessment or Elite Longevity Assessment.

What’s the difference between an Executive Physical and the Elite Longevity Assessment?

An Executive Physical, offered by many health systems and concierge practices, is a comprehensive, single-day health evaluation that goes beyond a standard checkup, typically including advanced bloodwork, diagnostic imaging, and cardiovascular screenings.

thriveMD’s Elite Longevity Assessment builds on that foundation and goes significantly further. In addition to everything you’d expect from an Executive Physical, it includes a global lab panel, cancer blood biopsy, genetic and biological age testing, and micronutrient analysis. It concludes with a dedicated half-day session with your provider to review all findings and build a fully personalized longevity plan, which may include targeted supplementation, hormone optimization, and additional advanced screenings.

What is longevity medicine?

Longevity medicine is a field that is, in some ways, still in its infancy. At the same time, people all around the world have been studying longevity medicine for centuries, searching for ways to be as healthy as possible. While longevity medicine is the most recent iteration of this quest, it’s based on years of medical research and data analysis.

Longevity medicine is about creating a personalized care plan that maximizes quality of life, no matter your age. This means taking advantage of state-of-the-art preventative testing and hormone optimization, along with improved diet, exercise, and brain performance to work towards peak health.

It may sound like wishful thinking, but recent research shows that using aging biomarkers and preventative care can help enhance longevity in a more cohesive and effective way than simply treating illnesses if and when they arise. In a sense, longevity medicine is an opportunity for patients to work with their doctors in a proactive way to allow their minds and bodies to remain at peak performance for longer.

Is longevity medicine effective?

Longevity medicine is effective, but this doesn’t mean that every patient will see exactly the same results. There are many genetic and environmental factors that can outweigh the benefits of longevity-focused care, such as a predisposition for certain types of cancer or regular exposure to dangerous chemicals or pollutants.

That’s why the Elite Longevity Assessment is so valuable – it allows for a total-body screening to make customized, global lifestyle changes that aim to reduce the risk of illness, combined with medical intervention to improve physical and mental functionality. By combining multiple approaches and personalizing care, longevity medicine has the potential to maximize one’s quality of life, year after year.

How does a cancer blood screening work?

Many types of cancers shed pieces of DNA in the bloodstream early in their existence. These DNA markers are small identifiable pieces of a cancer cell and indicate that cancer is (or was) present in the body. Cancer screenings at thriveMD work by detecting this evidence of cancer DNA in the blood, allowing physicians the potential to identify the presence of a cancer early in its existence and gather evidence to determine where the cancer may have originated.
